Biography

Dr. Engr. Mohammed Sowket Ali obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from the Department of Nano-IT Engineering of Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Seoul, South Korea in 2013. He completed his Master of Engineering (M. Engg.) degree from the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering of Chonnam National University (CNU), South Korea in 2007. Earlier, he received his B.Sc. Engineering degree from the Department of Computer Engineering, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 1999 (Fall Semester). His academic journey began in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where he completed Higher Secondary certificate (HSC) in 1994 from Tejgoan College, and previously earned his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) in 1992 from Tejgoan Government High School.

Dr. Sowket has held numerous prominent technical positions across both government and private sectors, nationally and internationally. His expertise spans research and development, software programming, and IT infrastructure. He began his professional journey as an Assistant System Manager at Computer Bazaar Network (CBNet) in January 2000. In May 2001, he joined the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Cumilla as an Assistant Maintenance Engineer, where he served for over two years. He then transitioned to a governmental role as a Programmer at the Ministry of Education (DSHE) in July 2003. For more than a year and a half, he played a pivotal role in developing and maintaining educational software systems that supported national-level projects in the education sector. Expanding his career internationally, he became a Software Engineer (R&D) at MUSE R&D Inc. in South Korea in 2008. Later, from June to November 2013, he worked as a Project Manager (R&D) at ActsOne Co., Ltd. in Seoul, further enhancing his international portfolio.

Currently, Dr Sowket serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Bangladesh Army University of Science and Technology (BAUST), located in Saidpur Cantonment. Niphamari-4310, Bangladesh.  Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions in academic leadership, notably as the Founding Head of both the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at BAUST.  Before joining BAUST, he served as an Assistant Professor and In-charge (Chairman) of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Uttara University, Bangladesh in 2014. Between May 2010 to February 2014, he worked as an Instructor under the Seoul Metropolitan Government in South Korea. He has extensive international research background at Intelligent Control & Digital Signal Processing (IC & DSP) Lab. at Chonnam National University, South Korea and Digital Control System Lab (DCSL) at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, South Korea. More than forty (40) peer-reviewed articles in national and international journals/conferences have been published by him. Additionally, he supervised both Post-Graduate (Master’s) Level Thesis and Undergraduate (B.Sc.) Level Thesis/Project as well.

 

He is a life fellow of both the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) and Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS). He is also a Senior Member of International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT), Singapore and a Member of the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), Hong Kong.

 

He has been actively involved in numerous conferences, including the session chair of the IEEE Computer Society Bangladesh Chapter Summer Symposium 2025 and International IEEE Conference on Quantum Photonics, Artificial Intelligence, and Networking (QPAIN) 2025. He also served as a technical committee’s member of many reputed conferences including 2018 International Conference on Electronics, Communications and Control Engineering, Avid College, Maldives, March 6-8, 2018, The 2nd  International Conference on Electronics, Communications and Control Engineering, Phuket, Thailand, April 13-16, 2019, 2019 International Electronics Communication Conference, Okiawa, Japan, July 7-9, 2019, 2020 2nd  International Electronics Communication Conference, Singapore, July 8-10, 2020. Reviewer of the International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communication, Electrical and Smart Systems, ULAB Campus, Dhaka, Bangladesh, March 8-9, 2024 and the Journal of Engineering Research and Reports, Web of Science (Publons)-2024, ISSN: 2582-2926.

His current research interests encompass a broad range of fields, including Data Science and Data Science and Data Mining, Intelligent Systems and Machine Learning, Speech and Image Signal Processing, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Biotechnology and Health Informatics, Feature Extraction and Classification of Biomedical Signals, Control Theory and Applications, Quantum Computing and Communication, Embedded Systems, Digital System Design and Applications, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Brain-Machine Interfaces (BMI), Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data Analytics.
