Muhammad Khairuzzaman is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Bangladesh Army University of Science and Technology (BAUST), Saidpur. He joined BAUST in August 2021, where he is involved in teaching, mentoring students, and supervising undergraduate projects. His teaching areas include core electrical engineering courses, laboratory experiments, and project-based learning to enhance students’ practical and theoretical understanding.
Mr. Khairuzzaman completed his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Lamar University, Texas, USA, in 2014, where he was a research assistant in the Optics Lab. His thesis focused on changing the optical and electrical properties of a crown dielectric surface using a 532 nm diode laser, under the supervision of Dr. Cristian Bahrim. He earned his B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2004.
With a robust academic and professional background, Mr. Khairuzzaman’s research interests include optics, photonics, and light-matter interaction, as evidenced by his publications in journals such as the Journal of Applied Mathematics and Physics and presentations at conferences organized by the American Physical Society (APS). His work investigates the interaction of lasers with dielectric surfaces and the properties of optoelectronic switches.
Before joining BAUST, Mr. Khairuzzaman served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of EEE at Uttara University from 2017 to 2021. He also held several professional roles in industry and academia, including Deputy Superintendent Engineer at Grameenphone Ltd., Math Tutor at Lamar University, and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Texas, Arlington. His experience spans engineering project coordination, optical research, and academic instruction.
Mr. Khairuzzaman is a member of the American Physical Society (APS) and has attended and presented at various international conferences. His expertise extends to programming languages such as MATLAB and C++, and engineering tools like PSPICE and MULTISIM. He is dedicated to advancing knowledge in his field and inspiring students to achieve excellence in engineering.
