Notable Achievements of the CSE Department:

1. CSE-BAUST is now IEB-BAETE Accredited Program

BSc. Engineering in CSE of BAUST has been accredited by IEB-BAETE and is recognized as meeting the initial academic requirements for engineering graduates in Bangladesh.

Signatories to the Washington Accord have undertaken to make every reasonable effort to ensure that the bodies responsible for registering or licensing engineering graduates to practice in its country or territory mutually recognize the substantial academic equivalence of engineering academic programs accredited by Washington Accord signatories.

2. GPH Ispat Esho Robot Banai – Winners
The reality show, ‘GPH Ispat Presents Esho Robot Banai’, held its grand finale recently at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC). The show gave young robot mechanics a platform to transform their ideas into reality. After many brainstorming sessions and rounds of eliminations, the show began on September 23, 2018, with 30 selected teams, on Channel i.

3. bdapps National Hackathon 2022 – National Champion – Team HAKO
Dhaka, 29 November 2022: National Hackathon 2022, organized by the National Appstore, bdapps, has recognized the best 10 teams of the competition at the gala event held today at the Bangabandhu International Convention Centre. bdapps, which is managed by Robi, organized the National Hackathon in partnership with the ICT Division.

State Minister for ICT Division, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP attended the gala event as the chief guest. Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority’s Managing Director, Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services’s (BASIS) President, Russell T. Ahmed were also present at the event.

Robi’s CEO, Rajeev Sethi, Chief Commercial Officer, Shihab Ahmad, and other high officials of the company were present at the event. Members of bdapps apps developers community, and the finalists of the competition were also present on the occasion.

In total, 5,000 app developers participated in the competition divided into 2,000 teams. Prior to the National level Hackathon, five regional level Hackathons took place in Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Sylhet, where apps developers from all over the country took part.

Team Hako came on top of the competition, followed by Team NUB, Team Sangu secured the third place. The first, second, and third team were given two lakhs, one lakh twenty five thousand, and seventy five thousand taka respectively. In total, the 10 best teams were given five lakhs taka as prize money. Robi’s Chief Commercial Officer, Shihab Ahmad revealed these insights on the competition at the gala event.

4. “Innovative Idea Contest” – 2022 -Champion Team
a2i, the flagship Digital Bangladesh program, was born in the Prime Minister’s Office and was incubated there as a whole-of-government, digital innovation catalyst for 11 years before graduating to a much larger implementation program in the ICT Division and Cabinet Division, with support from the United Nations Development Programme. Since its inception, it has developed tentacles in all 60 ministries, all 400 departments, all 64 districts, all 492 sub-districts, and all 5,000 plus rural and urban local government institutions in the country.

5. THE CHAMPION IN DICFW-2023

The grand finale of the Digital Innovation Challenge for Women was held. The fourth edition of the technology-based competition ‘Digital Innovation Challenge for Women 2023’ was held for women to inspire and encourage women in technology innovation. The final stage and grand finale of the competition were held on Saturday (May 20) afternoon in the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium in the capital.
The competition is organized by Women in Digital in collaboration with the World Bank and UNDP Bangladesh Accelerator Lab. Media partner The Daily Star, in collaboration with IEEE Women Wings and Sumaiya Technologies Ltd.
At the beginning of the program, there was a team presentation of the 8 teams participating in the final round of the competition. Members of Project Elisa, Team Climate Avengers, Team IST_Aspires, Team Visionaries, Team Sunshine, Team Lumenesins, Team Grande, and Team Terminators participated in it.
The judging panel of the competition consisted of Prof. Celia Shahnaz of BUET, Syed Mafiz Kamal Onik, Head of Research and Communication, Center for Research and Information, Siddhartho Goshwami, Head of Operations and Coordinator, ICT Division, BIG. Chief Executive Officer of Creative Conservation Alliance and Co-founder Shahriar Caesar Rahman and United Nations Development Program Project Officer Rebecca Sultana. Mohammad Mahdee Uz Zaman, solutions architect leader and IT expert of the tech giant company Amazon Web Services, was the mentor of the contestants.

After many brainstorming phases and relevant progress Team Sunshine from CSE, BAUST has become the champion of this competition.
