Collaborating for Empowering Youth: BAUST Faculty and Student Join Futurenation’s Skill Development Workshop
On Thursday, September 18, 2025, two of our faculty members (Faisal Ahmed from the Civil Engineering (CE) Department and Rezaul Karim from the Accounting and Information Systems (AIS) Department) and a fourth-year student participated in the Regional Skilled Hub Workshop in Rangpur. Hosted by Futurenation, a subsidiary of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and sponsored by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and Grameenphone, the event focused on empowering the nation’s youth through free skill-development programs.
Our faculty members, Faisal Ahmed from the Civil Engineering (CE) Department and Rezaul Karim from the Accounting and Information Systems (AIS) Department, joined a fourth-year student to represent our institution. They engaged with fellow faculty and students from across the Rangpur division to discuss how to improve and expand these vital training initiatives.
Futurenation’s mission is to provide free training in key areas such as freelancing, graphic design, and English speaking, alongside workshops aimed at building leadership and teamwork abilities. The workshop provided an excellent platform for participants to share insights on overcoming challenges and making these programs more accessible nationwide.
This event was also a fantastic networking opportunity, allowing our representatives to connect with peers from various institutions and contribute to a larger conversation about shaping a more skilled and prepared workforce for Bangladesh’s future. We’re proud to have been a part of this important discussion.
