Welcome to the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering at BAUST, a center of excellence in engineering education and applied research. Here, we empower students to become globally competent engineers capable of transforming ideas, systems, and industries.
Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE) is a globally valued discipline that enhances productivity, optimizes operations, and improves workplace conditions across industries. It has made significant contributions to the efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability of organizations around the world.
The Department of IPE at BAUST began in 2016 and has since produced many graduates who are contributing in reputed multinational companies at home and abroad. Many alumni are also pursuing fully funded higher studies in countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia, the UK, and various European nations. Our B.Sc. Engineering in IPE is IEB/BAETE accredited and globally recognized under the Washington Accord since 2022, ensuring internationally benchmarked engineering education.
The curriculum offers a balanced mix of theoretical and practical learning through courses such as Manufacturing Processes, Product Design, Operations Research, Ergonomics and Safety, Supply Chain Management, Quality Management, Modern Machining Processes, and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing. To strengthen students’ skills and ensure real industrial exposure, the department maintains close collaboration with industries. It regularly organizes industrial visits, study tours, internships, seminars, conferences, and annual events.
Students benefit from well-equipped laboratory facilities, including Material Handling and Maintenance Engineering Lab, Measurement, Instrumentation and Control Lab, Foundry and Welding Shop, Metallurgy Lab, Engineering Drawing Lab, Machine Shop and Production Process Lab, CAD and Simulation Lab, and Ergonomics Lab, among other advanced setups.
The department also engages in research focused on manufacturing engineering, production technology, efficiency improvement, waste minimization, and development of local industrial solutions, creating a strong blend of engineering innovation and management science.
